About this tutor

I am a qualified Chemical Engineer with over 20 years of experience tutoring Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at high school and university levels. I believe every learner can make meaningful progress when their individual learning needs are properly understood. My approach is patient, structured and tailored to each student. I focus on identifying the underlying gaps in understanding, breaking down complex concepts and developing the problem-solving skills needed to tackle questions independently. I support learners following CAPS, IEB and Cambridge curricula, whether they need ongoing academic assistance, help with difficult topics or focused examination preparation. My goal is not simply to help learners arrive at the correct answer, but to help them understand why the answer is correct and build the confidence to apply that understanding in new situations.

Experience

23 years of tutoring experience. I have been tutoring Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry since 2003, working with learners at high school and university levels. My tutoring experience includes students from the University of Cape Town (UCT), University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), UNISA and the University of Johannesburg (UJ). I have also worked as a Teaching Assistant at UCT and Wits, supporting students with technical concepts, practical work and problem-solving. I have experience providing individual academic support, helping learners prepare for examinations, and adapting lessons to different levels of understanding and learning needs. I offer both online and in-person tutoring.
