Tutor terms
These terms apply when you apply to be listed on Extra Lessons SA and while your profile is published.
This is a plain-language draft prepared for the site owner and requires legal review before launch, particularly the independent-contractor, child safety and indemnity wording.
You are independent
You are an independent tutor. Extra Lessons SA does not employ you, pay you, set your rates, allocate learners or supervise your lessons. You agree your own terms, payments and cancellation arrangements directly with families, and you are responsible for your own tax affairs.
Accuracy
Everything in your application must be true and about you. Do not overstate qualifications, experience or registrations. We may ask for proof, and we remove profiles that are inaccurate or misleading.
Review and publishing
After you confirm your email, your application is checked automatically, using fixed rules and an AI model, for spam, inappropriate content, contact details in public fields and suspicious links. If it passes, it is published automatically. If it is flagged or the check is uncertain, a person reviews it and may approve it, ask for changes, or reject it. We may pause or remove a profile at any time, including while we look into a report. Enquiries are emailed to you; replying shares your email address with the parent.
Working with children
You must be 18 or older. You are responsible for conducting yourself lawfully and appropriately with learners, keeping a parent or guardian informed, and complying with South African law. Extra Lessons SA does not perform background checks, and listing does not imply we have cleared you to work with children.
Enquiries and data
Enquiry details shared with you may be used only to respond to that enquiry and arrange lessons. Do not add enquirers to marketing lists or share their details.
