How Extra Lessons SA works
Extra Lessons SA is a directory. Parents contact independent tutors directly, and tutors set their own rates and make lesson arrangements with families themselves.
For parents and learners
1. Search the directory
Filter by subject, grade, curriculum, province and online or in-person lessons.
2. Read profiles
Each tutor describes what they teach, their experience and qualifications, and an indicative rate.
3. Send an enquiry
Use the form on a tutor's profile. It is emailed straight to the tutor, together with your email address so they can reply. Your details are never shown on the site.
4. Agree the details directly
The tutor replies to you by email. You agree the rate, times, venue or online platform, and payment with them. We do not take bookings or payments.
An enquiry about a child must be sent by their parent or guardian. Adult learners may enquire for themselves.
For tutors
1. Apply online
Tell us your subjects, grades, curriculum, lesson options, experience, qualifications, indicative rate and a short bio. A photo is optional.
2. Confirm your email
We email you a confirmation link. Your profile cannot go live until you click it.
3. Automatic checks
Your application is checked for missing details, duplicates, spam and unsuitable text or photos. If it passes, your profile goes live straight away and we email you the link. If anything is unclear, a person reviews it first.
4. Receive enquiries
Parents' enquiries are emailed to you. When you reply, the parent will see your email address. You set your own rates and arrangements, and you are not employed by Extra Lessons SA.
What we check, and what we don't
Automated checks we do
- The tutor confirmed they control the email address they applied with
- Required details are complete and the city matches the province
- The application does not repeat an existing email or phone number
- Profile text and photo are screened automatically, including with AI, for spam, contact details and unsuitable content
Checks we do not do
- We do not verify a tutor's identity
- We do not verify qualifications, experience or references
- We do not run criminal record or background checks
- We do not supervise lessons
